On January 15, 2008, BirdLife International welcomed the publication of ‘A Climatic Atlas of European Breeding Birds'. This Atlas marks a major advance in understanding the potential impacts of climate change on wildlife. It shows that in the course of the 21st century the changing climatic conditions will force most species to move into new areas. For many of them this will prove difficult, and combined with other threats this will increase their risk of extinction in Europe.
In landscapes that have been extensively managed for centuries interesting biotopes with high biodiversity have formed. Nowadays in many places because of desertion the biotopes and cultural landscapes are overgrowing with some aggressive species and these places become a monotone shrubland. In places with high cultural or biological value renovation activities can be carried out like it lately has been done near the Liškiava mound in Dzukija National Park, Lithuania.

Sounds interesting and makes you curious? That was the goal of this activity. Jan spent 21 days this summer to popularize North Sea Trail (Nordsøvandreruten) in Denmark and did that in a very innovative way. If you have some minutes, take a look and find out more about his journey, places he visited and interactive work using his "blog" to make this process as interesting as possible.
